Portland Community Tai Chi and Qi Gong
Time & Location
About the Event
Friday Classes: Qigong 5-6 PM, Tai Chi 6-7 PM.
Register for one or both classes at check out.
Location: National University of Natural Medicine; Energy Medicine Room 305.
Tai Chi Curriculum involves walking meditation, yang style Tai Chi 13 form, and emphasis on the principles that make tai chi so uniquely nourishing! Special attention is paid to setting up a daily practice that can support optimal posture and health as we age. The martial and spiritual aspects of Tai Chi are touched upon according to student interest.
Qigong Curriculum involves a lineage known as 5-Element medical Qi Gong. Each set of movements is designed to work with a different aspect of the body (i.e. large muscle groups, tendons, bones, spine and nervous system, etc.), and each goes with a different season of the year. The whole system has been used successfully to reverse the effects of aging and restore vitality – especially in the elderly and in those with chronic disease. Each movement has a specific purpose in the body, and in teaching we emphasize how each specific movement (and movement set) could be used help others build physical strength and vitality.
